Also ich selbst studiere PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) und ich muss sagen, ich war am Anfang auch unsicher, was ich studieren soll, aber dann habe ich das gefunden:
Bachelor of Science in Economics and Social Sciences
About the BSc Programme
The programme seeks to bring together some of the most important approaches to understanding the economic, societal and human world around us. It fosters intellectual capacities that you can apply to the fields of economics, politics and philosophy (the first year three basic disciplines), and develops skills that you will find useful for a wide range of careers and activities after graduation.
The degree is congruent with the belief that a parallel study of related disciplines significantly enhances your understanding of each discipline, bringing added dimensions of comprehension and perspective. The study of Economics aims to give you an understanding of the workings of contemporary economies. This includes the conduct of business and the behaviour of consumers as well as the role of government policies in many areas.
The study of Philosophy develops analytical rigour and the ability to criticise and reason logically. It allows you to apply these skills to many contemporary and historical schools of philosophical thought, and to questions concerning how we acquire knowledge and how we establish ethical recommendations. The study of Politics gives you an understanding of the issues dividing societies and of the impact of political institutions on the form of social interest articulation and aggregation and on the character and effects of government policies. Among the big issues considered in Politics are, why democracies emerge and may be consolidated, or why states go to war or
seek peace.
Structure of the Course
The BSc in Economics and Social Sciences is designed to train eclectic economists.
In the first year it gives you a foundation in mathematics, philosophy, politics and economics.
In your second and third years, you will continue deepening your background in economics and reading other subjects in the social sciences such as sociology, philosophy of sciences, and law.
The programme allows the student to design a personal study plan by selecting the optional course from a wide range of electives. It also requires attending a compulsory internship and an international exchange programme.
Thesis
A final thesis is required to obtain your Bsc.
Begin planning no later than your second year, and talk with a supervisor about it no later than the end of spring semester exam session. If your supervisor thinks that your proposal is manageable, get initial suggestions for reading and follow them up. Remember that supervisors can only advise: the decision to offer a thesis is your own, and so is the choice of topic. So of course is the work; what makes a thesis worthwhile is the very fact that it is your own independent production.
Good undergraduate thesis topics can vary in character a great deal, but all have two things in common: they are focused, so as to answer a question, or set of questions, or advance an argument; and they are manageable, so that the time available is enough for your research and reflection on it, and 15.000 words is enough for an interesting treatment.
Teaching Language
In the first year the programme offers courses in English. However, you may be required to attend ammual courses in the other teaching languages, depending on the language of your high school diploma examination. In the second and third year, courses may be offered in one of the School’s official three languages (English, Italian and German) although English will be the main teaching language of the
BSc programme.
