Balance Pass: Patch 1.05 will be a major attempt to rebalance the game. Our balance team has been testing diligently and following the play on ESO to see where some adjustments may be needed. We have also received a lot of feedback from some expert players and we have been monitoring discussions on various fan sites and forums. Here are a few balance changes we are considering.
* Skirmisher and Jaeger speed reduced slightly
* Town Center hit points increased
* Villager range decreased
* Portuguese start with one more villager
* French start with one less coureur
* Abus Gun made slightly less effective
* Mercenary train time increased
* Janissary attack reduced
Home City Card Changes: Over 60 cards may be adjusted to some extent. Examples are Sheep cards that will give more Sheep, 20 Pikemen card increased to 24, etc.
ESO Power Ratings: The power ratings will be divided into perhaps five levels, and within each level there are many ranks. A new player would start at something like Level 0 Conscript, while the best players in the rankings would be something like Level 50 Field Marshal. There will be many other ranks in between (Corporal, Major, etc.). A complicated algorithm will track your rating based on winning and losing games, and the skill of your opponents. Winning against players ranked above you will move you up faster, while losing to players of lower rank will drop your rating.
New Map: The new map is Hispaniola, designed by Jeff Brown with help from David Leary. It looks something like Continental (large land mass in the center surrounded by water) but has a large ocean inlet in the top left corner. There are Whales in this inlet, which would be strategic to control for coin. There is also an impassable mountain in the center, which sets up interesting wall options and surprise “end around” land attacks. There are four to six Carib villages that can be spread out or near the mountain. Players get a crate boost to accelerate the action. Jeff thinks it should be one of our best maps for simultaneous sea and land fighting.
Attack Move Orders: This will now be officially supported with both an interface button and hotkey. The hotkey should be X. Your units will stop while moving and automatically attack/kill and enemy units or buildings they see while moving. They then continue their movement after all enemies in sight are dead, unless you have given them new commands in the interim.
Stand Ground Formation: This works like it did Age of Kings. Units in the Stand Ground formation will never move on their own but will attack anything within their range from the position where they were placed. You can move them manually, but once they reach their destination they will stay put. This is useful for keeping units from being lured into the range of an enemy Fort, for example.
Clan Management Improvements: Fixes to clan chat, change in who can be demoted or promoted, and a number of issues related to joining and creating clans.
(...)
World Cyber Games: To the regret of many people, Age III was not chosen to be a competition for the WCG this year. We really can’t influence that decision and don’t have any insight on how they determine what games are in.
